Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

The U.S. Congress created the TEACH Grant program to provide grants to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.  The TEACH Grant program, combined with Title I Student Loan Forgiveness, comes at a perfect time for professionals like instructional aides, teachers, and school administrators who wish to continue their education.  For more information on the TEACH Grant and the Title I Student Loan Forgiveness program visit http://www.360-edu.com/resources.php

360 Education Solutions is an advocate group founded especially for educators to facilitate the search for quality online teaching degree programs and professional development.  This resource provides a comprehensive directory of online programs in the subjects of Critical Shortage areas, Certifications of Advanced Graduate Studies, High-Need Fields, and continuing education units.  For a complete list of courses available online, visit their website at http://www.360-edu.com/professional_development.php

DOCTOR OF EDUCATION (ED.D.) IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP – California State University, Fullerton

The College of Education offers the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership.  The program prepares leaders for PreK-14 education who understand the critical changes educational institutions are facing; who can create, lead, and study innovative reforms; and who are committed to critical examination of educational practices and policies.

Program of Study
The program includes two summers and two complete academic years of course work, followed by a period during which the candidate advances to candidacy and undertakes the dissertation.  The College of Education schedules classes during the academic year in the late afternoons and evenings and occasionally on weekends to accommodate the schedules of working professionals.

Specializations
Two specializations will focus on the development of PreK-14 leaders: PreK-12 Educational Leadership and Community College Leadership. The PreK-12 specialization currently accepts students into the program. The College of Education is currently developing the Community College specialization curriculum with the expectation that students will begin study in 2009.

Response to Intervention – Certificate Program

Response to Intervention (“RtI”) is a model that focuses on prevention and early intervention combined with data-based decision making in an effort to improve student behavioral and academic outcomes.  To help educators acquire the competencies needed to implement and use RtI, UC Riverside Extension, in collaboration with the UCR Graduate School of Education, developed a series of courses that lead to the RtI Certificate.

OBJECTIVE:  The purpose of the certificate is to provide general and special education teachers, and other related service providers an advanced conceptual foundation that will allow them to become leaders in the RtI Implementation process.

ADMISSION:  The RtI certificate is open to anyone who has an interest in the content area.  Individuals not pursuing a certificate may enroll in any course with the instructor’s approval.

PROGRAM:  The program consists of five required courses totaling 15 quarter units.  Generally, certificate candidates may complete the program within one year.  The program provides course offering during evenings, throughout the week, and on weekends.  The five required courses are:

Credentialed Professionals

WE PROVIDE THE RESOURCES TEACHERS NEED TO SUCCEED

"When I began my career in the Chino Valley Unified School District, I was pretty green. My mentor teacher helped me get my bearings. I can't imagine doing anything else as rewarding as teaching these kids. "

- Elementary School Teacher

WE TAKE YOUR PROFESSIONAL GROWTH SERIOUSLY

"The topics that the District chose this year were so relevant to the issues I was facing as a teacher. It was as if the Professional Development Committee had been to my classroom!"

- Junior High Teacher

Learn from experienced coaches.

Teachers in their first two years of teaching on Preliminary or Level I credentials participate in BTSA Induction.  Human Resources assigns each teacher a trained support provider who serves as a mentor, coach, and consultant.  The pair work together to prepare the participating teacher to meet the academic needs of all students, in a system Human Resources has designed to purposefully be independent of the evaluation process.  BTSA Induction invites all District teachers to visit GoSignMeUp to enroll in high quality professional development activities.

We are committed to individual skill building.

You will benefit from the value of sharing ideas with colleagues. The District encourages teachers to form study groups around specialty/grade level areas so they can exchange best practices, share experiences, and learn from each other. The District also actively encourages the participation of all our teachers in courses and seminars that further their development.

Team-based programs are tailored to each school's needs.
Administrators and teachers at every school are actively involved in diagnosing their professional development needs and then creating and implementing plans that address them.

District-wide programs unite teachers around a common purpose.
District-wide programs are another unique opportunity to unite our large group of teachers around a common purpose.  Everything we do is directed toward one goal:  to better equip you to do your job.

Teach in an environment conducive to performance.
The District is constantly working to integrate technology to support teaching and learning activities.

Classified Professionals

CLASSIFIED PROFESSIONALS ARE THE BACKBONE TO THE DISTRICT'S SUCCESS

Over 1,250 classified professionals directly support the District's mission to "provide all students a rigorous and relevant education in a safe learning environment."

A classified professional is often the first "teacher" that a student comes in contact with every school day.  The bus driver, the custodian, the food service worker, or the secretary, individually and collectively, plant the seed of learning each morning.

To ensure the growth of classified professionals, the District is expanding its professional development offerings to include the trainings that will best meet the needs of the staff.

Seminars and Workshops
